Sail To Prevail is a Newport nonprofit providing therapeutic, adaptive sailing for children and adults with disabilities from docks at Fort Adams State Park. Its 'Confidence is Cool' day camp serves physically disabled children ages 7-17 five days a week from June through August, using a fleet of specially adapted 20-foot sailboats where each participant takes an active role at the tiller. Scholarships are available and no one is turned away for financial reasons.

We had Tyler as our boat captain and he is such a great young man. Very patient , and engaged with all of us equally. They have a hoyer lift on the dock and specialized seating in the sailboat,so this is fully handicapped accessible. They all knew exactly how to operate the equipment efficiently, and made the experience so special for all of us. If you work with individuals with different needs, or people that utilize wheelchairs , I strongly recommend making a reservation at Sail to Prevail. Today was the last day of their season, but definitely try it next year.
