Powered by GoogleHey with all due respect, I am a current member there but I have caught the flu from that place twice in the past month I work from home, my wife is a germaphobe who works in the hospital and my house is definitely sanitized at this point LMFAO. But when it comes down to sanitation and cleanliness it obviously needs to be addressed. In 10 years I think I've been sick a total of three times and one of them was covid. If somebody sees this from the higher ups please start looking into this. I'm not the only person either that has been complaining in the men's locket room about being sick from the gym.
The swimming program is top notch. Ms. Alexa has instilled aquatic confidence and safety. My child has learned so much from this class. The reason for 4 stars is the locker room facility could be better.
Alexa does a fantastic job burn in the swim program at the Westerly ymca. I have brought all three of my kids there over the last 5 years. She does not let the kids pass on to the next session if she does not feel they are ready. These are definitely not go through the motions classes and she takes pride in her job. She also keeps her staff in check which i like because they are young. They also do a great job and are great with the kids. I highly recommend.
Our child (3 years old) has been taking swim classes here for about a year, and her current and last class have been my favorite so far! Alexa is a great teacher, making both me and my child feel comfortable in the water while building up swimming fundamentals in a stress-free and fun atmosphere. We have had our child in swim class since she was 6 months old in 3 different YMCA's (we move a lot), and these swim classes have been my favorite so far. I enjoy that they take pool safety seriously, keep class sizes smaller, and are teaching basic swim principles in fun ways! Keep up the great work, Alexa and your team!
We’ve been members at the Y for around 3 years. My daughter does their gymnastics, swim lessons and family swim, and loves hanging out in the child watch. The staff have always been super friendly, supportive, and helpful at this location. The child watch has been such a blessing as it allows me the opportunity to do schoolwork or workout. Their swim instructors and gymnastics coaches are great with the kiddos, and my daughter has developed skills in both activities, as well as increased independence. Initially, we tried bringing her to the Mystic location as this is closer to us, however, she had a really hard time acclimating to that center. We started going to this location because they offer more activities for her age and interests, and though she was hesitant to stay in child watch at first, through the consistency and quality of care provided, it has become her favorite place to play! I love that their facility offers indoor and outdoor spaces for the kids. For me and my husband, we personally love that they offer saunas, the layout workout center, and the facility’s proximity to Wilcox Park/downtown Westerly.
