Powered by GoogleBeen coming with youth group teens for years with our church. We have found it not only a beautiful environment, but includes caring and loving staff that cater to the campers and leaders providing a place to enjoy God's majestic creations and draw closer to Him. Tons of games and activities to get involved in!
Okay lets be real. As a first timer i probably wont come back. They mention hiking but everywhere you go you have to walk up and down hills which is tiring, especially with the hot weather. They also have you walk in the forest and do this thing called service project where you clean creaks , place rocks , or pull weeds in the forest for 2 hours where you then walk up and down hills constantly and it’s long walks there and back. If you want a free gym membership then here you go. Majority is white people and some of the campers attending and the groups are rude. The food is alright nothing that bad. There is clear racism from some campers and sometimes even some staff that try to hide it. ( Not all staff is bad ) the actives are fun if you are an active person and the barn dancing at the last night is truly such a good experience and brings everyone together. I cant say everything was bad because overall other than problems i wont list it was good. If you go please go with friends or people you know to really top off your experience. People who been going for years even state the rudeness from some others and how they start to like it less because the people can be very rude. Majority of counselors are nice and funny and the worship songs weren’t amazing at first but really got better! They have things like you can win a golden plunger or find a beaver around the campus. I would say bring some snacks. The lake has fun things to do and is fun with friends! If your child or church is diverse please let them know what they are getting into and dont let it stop them from going and getting their own experience. I would say the camp should be more upfront about the walking ( miles up and down hills ) and it didn’t help get that much closer to God considering the amount of time outside. Yes God was a stable there but you connect with nature and bugs way more often then you do God due to them making you do tiring things in hot bipolar heat. The speaker truly is a good and fun guy though and speaks on real stuff that goes on in our heads and he is someone i will miss! Him and his whole family is kind and funny and his stories during worship is amazing! This isn’t a strict camp where you have to cover up a lot since they understand you are of age of maturing and getting older but at least be considerate of what you wear. Bathing suits are fine just no bikinis and short shorts unless used for swimming. Crop tops and simple things like that is acceptable ( as long as it isn’t wildly inappropriate ) You change clothes 2-3 times a day! But overall based off their appearance and what actually happens there is what made the experience so bad. But the mountains are beautiful and i do recommend letting your child have their own experience here as some kids been going for 5+ years!
My daughter's first time ever at camp and wanted her to have an incredible experience. Camp Ridge Haven did just that! The camp is beautiful, and the staff are amazing! She recruited two of her friends to attend (Also first timers) and all of them can stop talking about how great the food was, all the activities, the worship and their counsellors. They cant wait to see you next summer. Thanks Camp Ridge Haven!
Awesome place. Friendly staff, beautiful location -- spent a week here with our church youth group.
The staff, administration, chef, and counselors at Ridge Haven are truly incredible. Our family has been attending each summer for 9 years and I cannot fully share the number of lasting memories which have taken place here. We love the beautiful setting which includes God's creation featured alongside recreational fields, lake, and facilities. The waterfalls, trails, and views are unmatched. This is a place one can go to for fun and togetherness - or solitude if desired. We are always impressed by the cleanliness of the housing and dining hall. And the food is really good too! Lastly, this is a special spot where God's presence can be seen through the heartfelt service of each of the Ridge Haven crew which works to ensure that campers are being poured into with the love of Christ from morning until evening. We highly recommend!
