Powered by GoogleCamp Merrie-Woode is truly a treasure. Both of my girls cherish their time there and count down the days until they can return each summer. They’ve spent many magical seasons under Old Bald and lovingly refer to it as “utopia.” The setting is breathtaking, but it’s the spirit of the camp that makes it unforgettable. The staff is professional, kind, and deeply invested in each camper’s growth. My daughters have learned so many skills—from outdoor adventure to leadership and confidence. Merrie-Woode has become a second home and a place of lifelong memories.
I went here for 10 years- this camp is nothing short of incredible. It shaped me into the person I am today. It is also in the most beautiful location. I visit as an adult and it’s just how I remember the place. If you want to give your girls the best memories of their childhood send them here!
So far, I and my two daughters have collectively spent 28 summers and 120 weeks under Old Bald at Camp Merrie Woode. For me, it is one of my "thin places" where God/Heaven feel incredibly close by. CMW afforded me a place where I was able to be 100% authentically myself. There are simply not enough words to describe how much CMW helped me grow as a person during my formative years. The camp's focus is always to encourage the girls to strive to reach their personal goals, rather than competing with one another (with extremely limited exceptions). As a result, supportive friendships are fostered, as there is no downside to sincerely cheering for one's comrades' accomplishments. I am still close friends with some of the women I went to camp with, and have become friends with some of the Moms of the campers my kids went to camp with. They have all enriched my life, and I am lucky to have gotten to know them. I cherish every second that I was lucky enough to spend at camp, and all the amazing people I met when there; it and they will forever hold a precious place in my heart. If you are looking for a top-notch, quality summer camp experience for your daughter, I highly recommend that you send her here.
We created a series of videos for the summer camp in 2018 and it was a fantastic experience. The staff were professional and dedicated to providing an amazing experience for the campers. The location is one of the most beautiful places in all of Western North Carolina, and the 100+ year history of the camp is fascinating. I have the privilege of visiting and getting to know many of the best summer camps in the county through my work and I rank Merrie-Woode as one of the best I have ever seen.
Recently, just did a parent/child weekend at this camp. Absolutely amazing staff, the place was gorgeous. We did canoeing, near waterfalls, hiked up this bald mountain peak!! The cabins were very clean and amazing. I would highly recommend this place for any summer, camp, or any parent child camp weekend getaway.
