Children must be at least 3.5 years old, potty trained and able to separate from a parent, and bring a nut-free snack and lunch. The academy also runs five Tumble Clinic days for cheerleaders, gymnasts and dancers at all levels, a Wednesday-morning Summer PlayGym for ages 1-3 with a caregiver, and year-round classes and teams for ages 1-18.

Every other place we have attended a birthday party at a gymnastics gym has allowed open gym play for awhile before going to a party room for food, so my kids and I assumed this one was the same but they kept trying to awkwardly rope my kids into weird group activities they did not want to participate in and then screaming at them when they wanted to play elsewhere in the gym. Maybe it wasn’t supposed to be open gym play but if so it was super unclear. I am still confused about what was happening and they screamed so much at both of my kids they made them cry at their friend’s birthday party. It felt like they were making up new rules the entire time and springing them on us- no rules were shared calmly or explained ahead of time, all were expressed by yelling at us like “we should know better” although we have never been here before and don’t know how their gym works at all. Maybe the employees felt stressed out or something working at a birthday party but that doesn’t feel like enough reason to scream at a five year old with social anxiety who needs a little space from big groups.
