Powered by GoogleI was taking a class yesterday with a friend as a guest at the Saugus YMCA and when walking across the parking lot we almost got ran over by a white YMCA truck. The young man driving was going nearly 45mph in a parking lot with many children being dropped off around us. This is concerning to say the least. We approached him and he walked off abruptly towards the pool area, he didn’t bother turning around. Blatant disregard for our safety and concerns. We tried to alert the person sitting at the front desk but she was on the phone. I would not recommend this YMCA due to this safety concern alone surrounding one of their own employees driving a company truck. I have grandchildren who go to the pool in the summer but they will now be going to another Y, god forbid this man is driving wreckless with them around. My friend also mentioned the same thing happened last Monday with the same YMCA truck and same driver. She said a family that looked to be dropping off toddlers were nearly run over by the white YMCA TRUCK that was going 40+ in the parking lot. VERY UNSAFE, VERY CONCERNING, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and VERY CARELESS. YMCA of Saugus do better, this employee needs driving safety skills along with customer services classes. Rude, entitled drivers like this should NOT be driving a company truck let alone driving around children.
Good counselors, and flexibility with after school care. The cons are the children. They do as they please for the most part. My son has come back in tears too many times. I was told it stems from the school, either way I do not like receiving my son back in tears over how children bully him with no repercussions. Not really the ymca’s fault for having so many children that don’t understand boundaries or manners. Overall wouldn’t put my kid here if other facilities had openings.
Great gym in a convenient location. Can get busy and there is often a wait for squat racks even midday, but there is plenty of cardio equipment. The parking lot can get crazy on weeknights because of the school and gymnastic gym though.
You need to try your luck. Some coaches I have seen were very enthusiastic. Not ours thought. Sent my daughters here for a backhandspring class and a week of tumble summer camp. Both times the coach and the counselor were cold. Made me feel incredibly unwelcome and was very unkind. Same feedback as what my daughters told me. The counselor at the camp did not seem to be passionate of what she was doing, uninterested of interacting with the kids. When kids talking to her, she would turn her heads away like she’s annoyed …one of my daughters scraped her knee and asked her for a bandage and she just told her you don’t need one, you are fine. She had to ask again in order to get a bandage because it was bleeding…they refused to go back to this location
The YMCA was wonderful. The entire team of workers were respectful, welcoming, and kind. Had a great time visiting. Very Clean, safe, and quiet atmosphere. Had everything I needed. Would definitely come back. All the kiddos were well behaved and polite and followed directions.
