Peconic Dunes 4-H Camp is a coed camp run by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County on the North Fork of Long Island in Southold, bordered by Long Island Sound and a 30-acre freshwater lake. It offers both one-week overnight and day sessions for youth ages 6-16. Activities include garden and environmental and marine science, trekking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, archery, swimming, basketball, soccer, softball and campfires.

★★danielleI hate to post a low-star review but I have such mom guilt now that a year after my daughter came back from Peconic I found out that she sat alone and cried every day. She bottled it up for a year but when she told me, tears were rolling. I feel so bad.. All of the other kids in her bunk turned out to be a group of friends (inconsistent with the rule I thought they had of only letting you pick one bunkmate) who were generally mean to her and excluded her from everything. Unfortunately it rained the whole week so there were no activities for her to otherwise participate in something and have fun. I sent my daughter to this camp the year prior and she had a great time so I’m not sure what happened last year. I don’t blame the kids, they are kids after all, but the counselors apparently only hung out with each other and did nothing to help and the camp never should have arranged the bunks this way. I did give the camp this same feedback. Maybe they can improve to avoid this situation in the future.
★★★★★Sean CoffeyThese are throwback stars ; ) Spent a week at this camp each summer starting when I was 8 SO MUCH FUN. Looked forward to it every year The counselors were fantastic... Endless stuff to do. We had a blast in the dining hall chanting & singing at meals... The beach on the sound is just footsteps away... there's a huge pond on the property... Sports... Nature trails... you name it. It was run by SCOPE back then... I hope 4-H is keeping it going with the same level of care and creativity. Drove by there today and the gates were shut, but it looked pretty much the same from the road. Hoping to go back and take a walk through the place and see how it looks these days.
★★★★Degrassi MurphyEven though I only went to this camp for one summer I still enjoyed my 3 weeks there. I was such a sky and timid kid but i feel like this place really helped my social skills. The kids for the most part are mature and nice and I never witnessed anyone getting bullied here. Some of the counselors were really rude but there were still a lot of nice ones. The activites were a lot of fun and the beds were actually pretty comfortable. I really wish I could have come again. It was a good time
