Dorothy P. Flint 4-H Camp is a 140-acre co-ed sleepaway camp on the Long Island Sound in Riverhead, run by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County and one of the oldest 4-H camps in New York. Campers aged 8 to 16 stay in rustic screened cabins of 6 to 12 with one or two counsellors and choose morning 'creative track' classes alongside afternoon rotations, with a working camp farm, waterfront, archery and an optional high ropes course. A separate Cloverbuds day camp serves ages 5 to 7 on a pre-set schedule. Eight themed weeks run from late June through late August at $840 per week, with family-style meals offering vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options on request. Camperships are available for families needing financial help. The camp is accredited by the American Camp Association and licensed by the Suffolk County Department of Health, and states that it welcomes all beliefs but holds no religious services.

Dylan has come back more mature, confident, and independent. If you have a shy child who is very co-dependent, I highly recommend this camp.
