One River School of Art + Design in Allendale runs summer art camps taught by practicing artists, designers and animators, with more than 70 weekly camp options that families can take as half-day or full-day. Projects span painting, drawing, street art, cartooning, manga, digital art and design, cosplay prop-building in EVA foam, oil painting and 3D work in Blender. Each camp session runs two and a half hours with a 15-minute break, and all tools and materials are provided. The school, open in Allendale since 2017, bases its curriculum on contemporary artists.

And we always have the opportunity to choose our own pictures and ideas. The teachers are always very kind professionals—they explain color mixing, techniques, and which brushes to use depending on the effect you want to achieve. They always paint alongside you and offer guidance whenever you’re unsure how to proceed. The class is very therapeutic and enjoyable.
