Powered by GoogleI do not recommend this gymnastics facility, especially for young children. The gym itself is dirty and often smells like urine. Staff are frequently rude and unapproachable, and there is very little structure or supervision during classes. I have personally seen coaches standing around not helping while very young children are expected to pick up heavy mats on their own, which is completely unfair and unsafe. My daughter attended this gym for over 6 months and showed little to no progress. One of the few positives was Coach Will, who was an excellent coach, but he no longer works there. Since his departure, many families—including several of my daughter’s friends—have canceled their memberships. I’ve also heard consistent negative feedback from others in the community about this place. We were once given a makeup-class token valid for one month due to a missed class. However, because the gym was closed for two weeks in December, we were unable to use the full month—and the token was still taken away with no flexibility or understanding. When I finally decided to cancel our membership, I was told I had to pay a $20 cancellation fee, which made no sense given the circumstances and overall experience. Between the lack of cleanliness, poor supervision, unprofessional staff, unfair policies, and high turnover of both coaches and families, this gym has been a major disappointment. There are many better, safer, and more professionally run options available.
staff are extremely rude to parents If you love to test your patience with other adults. This is the place. Smell of urine in waiting roo.
I do not recommend this gym, especially for small children. It was very over crowded and dirty. I had one child registered for pre-crickets and one registered for little hoppers. On the first day, one of the coaches announced for the “red group” to go back. I was waiting for either of their classes to be called and it never was. I went up to the coaches a couple minutes later and asked where we were supposed to be going and instead of answering my question the coach looked at my daughter and said “honey, your leotard is on backwards” and then looked at me and said if she flips it around, she wouldn’t be so exposed. My 4 year old was mortified and on the verge of tears. Once we made it back to the younger kids area, there was zero introduction to coaches or other students. It is also next to impossible to watch your kids in class when they age out of Little hoppers. The TVs are super small and grainy, and there no way to watch them in person unless you stand outside in the grass and peep through the windows. Because I had a second child enrolled, I was able to watch my older daughter during class. The coaches paid pretty much zero attention to her, starting next activities while she was still trying to finish one. As a primary years teacher and a coach myself, it just didn’t seem as though this environment was set up to nurture young children. Especially during an age where they are doing something without parents for the first time. My next issue is with the enrollment process. I had been closely monitoring the Saturday classes for waitlists to open up so both of my kids could go at the same time. After a couple weeks, the spots opened up and I registered. I received a phone call the following day from a member of their staff and was told that enrollment had been accepted. I was informed that each child gets a free trial and asked if I would like to use it for their first class on Nov 2. I said sure, asked if there was anything else I needed to do and she said nope you’re all set. I also inquired about registering for the next session online as it said there was only one spot left. I asked if I should register now or if you’re already enrolled you get priority. The staff member informed me there was no need for me to enroll now because we were already actively in classes, we would get priority and roll over into the next session starting on December 2. On November 9, the day of our second class; I went back with both my children. We were in the middle of warm-ups and a staff member came over and informed me that my children were not registered for this class. She asked me to leave and go talk to the front desk. My husband was there with us trying to watch from the waiting room so I asked her to get him so that I could stay with my children. A couple minutes later, my husband came back to class and said that their front desk told him that we needed to leave. They told us that we were in fact, not registered for this class and that after the make up session you need to go back in and reenroll. This was NEVER mentioned to us. Not during signups, on the phone call I had after registering, or after their first class. Once again, my children were mortified, having to get taken out of the middle of their class not understanding why.
The team coaches are wonderful. They train the girls to have confidence, try their best and never give up, great life skills! Gymnastics is tough and the coaches have the perfect balance of firm and loving. They always encouraged our daughter. We have truly enjoyed our many years at Oceanside Gymnastics.
DO NOT go to this place. Read the other one star reviews- this place is terrible. Young children are not safe (you can't even watch the youngest and most vulnerable children because they keep them out of sight). The owners are unprofessional and rude; if you are unlucky enough to ever see them they will talk to you about their pathetic political beliefs. The place is dirty. There is no roll call or parent check-in before class so its a chaotic free for all as class starts. And on top of all this, they will auto-enroll you in additional courses. They hide this trick somewhere in all the online documentation. I've never had such a terrible experience in any of my children's activities. Literally any other gym, rec center of children's activity is dramatically better than this place!
