I can only speak for the after school program that my son attended. He really enjoyed the socialization and the staff that was there during the previous year (2022-2023). Most of those members have been relocated to another facility or left altogether. Last year, they would've received 5 stars, no questions. This year, however, it's been a totally different experience.. The price from last year to this year increased and they offered 3 less days of all day care when school was out. There were also less field trips and planned activities for the kids. The succession plan from the previous to current staff seemed nonexistent from the outside looking in. Trying to make payments over the phone is hard to do. The phone would go unanswered 8 times out of 10. My son didn't attend every day, so I wouldn't always set foot in the building on days when payments were due. This resulted in two penalties for late payments. Upon arrival to pick up my son, a large majority of the time, I would have to go find him. As they were in an activity room or outside with no one up front to relay that the parent was there for pickup. Lastly, the administration team seems to be struggling. I attempted to make the last payment of the year for May and wad told my account balance was $0. I tried explaining to the director that I had no paid yet. He then assured me that the account balance was indeed $0 and he wasn't sure why. It may have been prorated because it was the last month and he didn't know. I left without making the payment, only to be flagged down nearly a month later by the assistant director looking for what? My May payment. I shared the encounter I had with the director with her and told them my son wouldn't be in attendance for the last two weeks because I refused to pay the balance at this point. Just beware. If I could do it all over again, he would've attended Allen Jay where the previous associates that he adored were moved to. I really hate to think the Parks and Recreation programs are falling to the wayside with inadequate funding or misuse of staffing, training, and execution of the programs by the city.
