Updating my review from two stars to five stars. They completely expanded the workout room. So much better!!!!

Great place, great classes, great equipment, great community! The greater Rockford area has a fantastic group of YMCAs.

I joined this location specifically for the "warm pool." In the last two months, only one time, have I been able to actually swim without an issue. There are only 3 lanes available; and if you go anytime after work, good luck getting access to the single lane that they condense lap swimmers down to due to swim lessons taking precedence. There are weird "safety breaks" that occur throughout the day and the last time I was there, I was in my final 25 lengths to my 2 mi swim and was told I had to get out because the lifeguard "deserved a break" (her words, not mine). Mind you, I was the ONLY person in the entire aquatics area at this time. And, she was wearing street clothes; not even a swim suit. I assured her I was of no concern to her and asked if I could finish my training. She suggested I "read the signs" As soon as my training comes to an end, I will be leaving this location. Their lack of employees, specifically lifeguards, should not negatively impact paying members. If I could submit more complaints, I would.

My daughter and I took my twin grandkids to Healthy Kids Day and we were so incredibly impressed! What a well oiled machine! And every single one of the young men working with them were exceptional!! They made it so fun for the little ones and even seemed to be having fun themselves! And the face painter is the best we've ever seen! These were the faces on my grandchildren the entire time! Thank you so much!

Stopped in during a special night program for the local library system to get an idea of what the building had to offer. Had a lot of questions, and Chris at front desk had a lot of answers. She was super friendly and helpful and made us aware of a ton of benefits about this location and becoming a member of the Y in general. The building is cool too, offering a lot of opportunities and information about classes available. It was very clean overall (even the glass windows overlooking the basketball courts were so pristine it was like they weren't there at all). But this review is mostly in appreciation for Chris and the time she took to talk with us and share her knowledge, even during this after-hours event.
