The Blackhawk Unit is one of the Boys & Girls Club of Rockford's neighborhood clubs, serving over 400 members a year through after-school and summer programming for kids in kindergarten through 6th grade. The summer day program runs Monday-Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm, and mixes tutoring and academic enrichment with sports and games, arts and crafts, STEM, digital development and nutrition; membership includes a hot meal and mentorship. The Blackhawk building has a gym, art room, computers, books, esports and a pool table. Rockford Public School District provides transportation from Constance Lane, Lathrop and Washington schools, and parents enroll by completing a Child Care Assistance application.
