Miss Yvonne Swim School (MYSS) runs an American Camp Association-accredited summer swim camp based in downtown Jersey City, NJ, for campers aged 3 and up who are potty trained. The day runs 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. with compulsory bus service from five stops in Jersey City and Hoboken (ready by 8:30 a.m.), and campers get two hours of swim instruction a day at a 4:1 ratio, split between a morning lesson at the Secaucus Swim Club and an afternoon lesson at Hamilton Park, with sports in the park, picnic lunch and arts and crafts or science experiments indoors between them. Swim enrichment rotates daily through a pirate ship, water slide, rock wall, diving board and free choice, and campers get a weekly progress report and swim video plus their own equipment to keep. Camp runs 11 weeks from mid-June to early September, enrolled by the week, and the school offers a money-back guarantee that three consecutive weeks will leave a child swimming unassisted in deep water; a scholarship program is published.

Google Reviews
Powered by GoogleThe instructors were friendly and of high quality, and great with the kids, which was the best part of our experience. However, we found some aspects less favorable, including scheduled breaks/holidays that are not compensated and limited flexibility with makeup classes. We would recommend reviewing the policy/FAQ carefully before enrolling.
I received a call from this business claiming they were returning a call from me. I explained that I had never contacted them, but the person insisted that I must have because otherwise they wouldn’t be returning my call. The conversation quickly became unprofessional, and the person hung up on me. Because of the confusion, I ended up Googling the number to see who had called me. The interaction was very rude and unprofessional. I also don’t live in New Jersey, so there would have been no reason for me to reach out in the first place. Based on this experience, I would not consider doing business here.
We have two kids enrolled at Miss Yvonne’s Swim School, and the experience has been fantastic. My son struggled during his first session and even refused to get in the water, but Yvonne was incredibly patient and took her time to help him feel comfortable. Thanks to her gentle approach, he now enjoys swimming. My daughter has progressed quickly through the levels and has gained a lot of confidence in the water. Both of my children now love swimming, and I’m very happy with the skills they’ve developed. Miss Yvonne truly knows how to work with kids and makes learning to swim a positive, fun experience.
We love Miss Yvonne’s Swim school! Our little one has been in this program since he was 10 months old - from watching him get used to being in the water and being scared, to seeing how confident and excited he is in the pool now as a toddler, we are so thankful for Miss Yvonne’s program and all the teachers! Any time someone sees our little one in the water, they always make a comment on how he is such a little fishy, and we know that’s because of all the time and dedication from Miss Yvonne.
My 4.5 yo and 3 yo have had nothing but a great experience at Miss Yvonne swim school. Honestly I don’t get all the bad reviews? Her policy is clear - parents aren’t allowed in the pool area. Even if your child is crying! My kids used to cry a lot and the instructors there handle it extremely well. You can always watch through the zoom link. I’ve never had a problem with it working, and if it’s not positioned to see your child just ask and they’ll fix it - no problem. Miss Yvonne was my sons’s 3rd swim school in the area, he was so slow to learn to swim. He had made no significant progress in about year - we switched to MYSS and he was swimming the length of the pool unassisted, no devices, in 3 MONTHS. Her rules may come off a little strict to some, but I don’t feel like paying for my kid to sit at the side of the pool for 25 min of a 30 min lesson. The instructors are kind and warm and always welcoming. If you want your kid to learn to swim I would never recommend anywhere else.
