Merrick Woods Summer Day Camp has run since 1956 on a wooded, landscaped campus at 1075 Merrick Avenue with three heated pools, sprawling ball fields and rustic craft shops. Campers are grouped as Younger Camp (entering nursery, pre-K and kindergarten), Traditional Camp (entering grades 1-4), Tween Explorer (entering grades 5-6, with two trips a week) and Top Notch Teens travel (entering grades 7-9, running since 1978 with dated day trips and overnight trips); the pre-school division is described for ages 3 and 4 with 2, 3 or 5 day options. The full-day programme runs 9:30am-4:15pm with extended hours available from 7:00am to 6:00pm, and the 2026 season is eight weeks from June 29 to August 21. Tuition includes door-to-door bus transportation or extended hours, camp lunch (not for Top Notch Teens), all materials, a complete course in Red Cross swim instruction, towel service and daily snacks, with a sibling discount of 5% off the lesser tuition for a second child and 15% for a third. The camp is licensed by the Nassau County Department of Health and inspected twice yearly.
