Marry Moffit and Katie Lank referred me to — a very convenient chain of unavailability when attempting to address legitimate concerns. facility. As a disabled veteran, I expected to be treated with basic courtesy, professionalism, and respect when asking simple questions about membership policies and access to the facility. Instead, I was met with dismissive behavior, poor communication, and an unnecessarily confrontational attitude from staff members. What should have been a straightforward conversation became an uncomfortable and frustrating interaction. During my visit, I politely asked for clarification regarding being charged simply to view or access the facilities before making a membership decision. Rather than calmly explaining the policy or addressing my concerns professionally, staff members became defensive and rude. I attempted to seek clarification and de-escalate the misunderstanding, but the situation escalated unnecessarily when staff implied or threatened to involve law enforcement simply because I was asking questions and expressing concern about the way I was being treated. At no point was I disruptive, threatening, or disrespectful, which made the response feel both excessive and intimidating. Organizations like the YMCA publicly promote inclusion, community support, and respect for individuals from all backgrounds, including veterans and people with disabilities. Unfortunately, my experience reflected the opposite. I believe your staff would benefit greatly from additional training in customer service, de-escalation, and sensitivity toward disabled individuals and veterans. No person should feel dismissed, disrespected, or threatened for simply seeking information and asking for fair treatment. I hope this complaint is taken seriously so future members and visitors do not experience the same treatment. Update: Mary Moffit & Katie Lank Executive and Associate Executive Director McGill Family YMCA were both out of office!

The YMCA promotes itself as an organization centered around community, inclusion, and respect, yet my experience reflected the exact opposite. Everyone deserves respect and especially veterans and all patrons deserve to be treated with dignity and professionalism, not passive-aggressive hostility or intimidation tactics. I strongly encourage management to address the conduct of Elias and Brittany directly and provide additional training on customer service, conflict de-escalation, and respectful communication. No customer should leave your facility feeling disrespected, targeted, or threatened for simply asking questions and expecting fair treatment.

Brittney and the staff at the McGill YMCA were extremely rude and unprofessional. My dad and I came in because he wanted to quickly look around and see the amenities before deciding if he wanted to join. The YMCA was closing in about 30 minutes, and we filled out all the required information at the front desk before doing anything. Brittney told us we could walk around and look at the facility without using a guest pass, but then suddenly used one of my free guest passes without clearly explaining it beforehand. Brittany Says since we looked in the weight room she used a guest pass, that should have been communicated honestly from the start instead of saying one thing and doing another. What made the situation even worse was how rude the staff became when we were simply confused and trying to understand what was going on. Instead of calmly explaining the situation, another male staff member immediately escalated things and told us we needed to leave while we were just standing there concerned and asking questions. There was absolutely no reason for the attitude or hostility. My dad is a former Marine and we were both being respectful the entire time. We weren’t causing problems, being loud, or disrespectful to anyone. We just wanted clear communication and basic customer service, which apparently is too much to ask for at this YMCA. The way we were treated was embarrassing, unprofessional, and completely unnecessary.

This is the worst YMCA I’ve ever been to. The facility is in terrible condition, everything looks old and poorly maintained, with visible rust in many areas. The lockers don’t lock properly; even with a padlock, they can be easily opened. They’re extremely outdated. I didn’t even feel comfortable changing because my belongings didn’t seem secure. The only positive thing was the staff, they were polite and helpful. Surprisingly, the place was very crowded, and there was barely any parking available. I would not recommend this location.

We have really enjoyed this place the past few months. I am looking forward to seeing all the remodeling done and having access to a restroom upstairs while exercising! The outdoor water park is great for the kids! Just be aware they occasionally do "adult swim" while youre there and it lasts for 15 minutes. My toddlers were not happy but we will be better prepared next time!
