Lake Forest Sailing is the sailing arm of Lake Forest Parks and Recreation, a US Sailing accredited training centre operating from Forest Park Beach on Lake Michigan. Its summer sailing camps are half-day: Little Luffers for ages 5-7 puts two young sailors in each pram to build a base for Pram 1, with a morning session and a new afternoon option running 1:20-3:30pm, and families can have a child bring lunch and stay through both. Lake Michigan Explorers for ages 10-12 is a short camp for new or somewhat experienced sailors, sailing a 26-ft Colgate 26 with an instructor always aboard. Registration is through the parks department and the sailing supervisor will consider sailors who fall just outside the age thresholds.
