Jackson Park Yacht Club's sailing school runs two-week junior sailing camps from its harbor on the southern Lake Michigan shore in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood. Classes meet Monday through Friday 9:00am-3:30pm across five sessions from mid-June to late August, with both classroom and on-the-water instruction on 420s, Bugs and RS Feva XL sailboats, taught by US Sailing certified and US Sailing REACH/STEM instructors and grouped by ability. Camp is open to ages 8-18 and to non-members as well as members; swimming is recommended but not required, though every student takes a swim check on day one and wears a club-provided life jacket. Each session closes with a sailing demonstration for parents and an awards ceremony, and a 10% discount applies for siblings or multiple sessions.

The club is 125 years going strong. We just had a quasquicentennial celebration with a gorgeous party on the harbor front with a delicious dinner and dancing. This club is the best bargain in the city as far as clubs go.
