Kamp Kohut helped us pull off the Maine summer camp wedding of our dreams in August 2025 and we cannot recommend the venue and the entire Kohut team enough! Many of our guests shared that they had the most fun ever at a wedding celebration during our wedding weekend at the camp. Kamp Kohut is a very special place. After deciding we wanted a wedding weekend where we could have fun in nature with all of our friends and family staying on site, we researched many summer camps throughout New England and in Maine as potential wedding venues. Kamp Kohut was the clear standout. Kamp Kohut has a rich 100+ year history that is evident in the details throughout the camp and is run by a family that has a deep dedication to the site and the campers. The camp has so many amazing features that you can take advantage of for your wedding weekend, including swimming, kayaking and paddle boarding on the crystal clear lake, lots of different sports equipment, indoor recreational facilities, a theater, huge Amish-built dining hall with wrap-around porch, campfire pit, and cabins for guests to stay on site throughout the weekend. One of the things that made Kohut really stand out from other camp venues we looked at is that they are still focused on running the camp as their main business, rather than hosting a ton of weddings each year. Kohut allows you to pick your own caterer and vendors, and includes all of the camp activities in the rental fee, unlike many of the other camps we considered. Rory and the entire team at the camp went above and beyond helping us throughout our wedding weekend, including making sure our guests with mobility issues were escorted to the ceremony, showing folks where to go, helping to make sure all of the meals and activities went off as planned, helping us to stage food and troubleshoot with vendors, and even (!) saving both of us by printing our vows at the last second and providing us with a tasteful white binder right before the ceremony. They really thought of everything! Many of our guests said that the weekend felt like so much more than just a wedding to them. We are grateful to the entire Kohut team for helping us to have a wonderful wedding weekend surrounded by love, and for helping our friends and family feel like kids again and enjoy the best of Maine in the summer.

We got married here Sept 2025 and it was the best weekend ever! The kamp is beautiful, situated right on Thompson lake and we had full access to the camp all to ourselves for the whole weekend. Be prepared to DIY your wedding, but for us, this was part of the fun. Our family and friends all came together to decorate and make our wedding happen and this was really special. Rory is amazing, super attentive and helpful with anything we needed and the staff were very helpful in setting up and breaking down. This venue is a really special place and I would do it a million times over if I could! Can't recommend enough.

We can't say enough good things about Kamp Kohut. My children have been attending the Kamp for years - they count down the days until they can return each summer. They have made great friends and have learned so much for the fantastic camp counselors and directors. It a warm and welcoming environment where the kids not only enjoy traditional summer activities but also grow as challenge themselves. My kids couldn't imagine summer without Kamp Kohut.

Kamp Kohut is a special place that offers a uniquely individualized summer camping experience. The most outstanding feature of this camp is the activity optionality they offer. Each week, campers sign-up for different types of outdoor, aquatic and creative artistry activities so that productively engaged and playfully joyful niches of interests and ambitions can mix, match and mingle within a community of close (but not too close, 6-inches to be exact) campers. With the right balance between comfort and challenge, within the beautiful natural landscapes of Maine, Kamp Kohut is simply one of the greatest places to be a kid.

Our son attended Kamp Kohut for 8 straight years. Each summer offered new and exciting adventures. The facilities are nice, the location is outstanding and the staff was always top notch. Our son always talked about how awesome his counselors were. The programs offered gave him the diversity he needed to try new things. Having staff from around the world also allowed our son to learn about different cultures - I think that is very neat. After each summer, he would get home and couldn't wait for the next summer. He created friendships that are still going strong today. I believe Kamp Kohut offered our son the opportunity of a lifetime (8 summers in a row). I am without a doubt he will apply to be a counselor when he is able to.
