To whom it may concern at House of Hustle, I am writing this email because I am beyond frustrated and disappointed with the way my son has been treated on your basketball team. Quite honestly, this experience has been one of the most unfair and discouraging situations I have seen in youth sports. We signed up for House of Hustle believing it would be a place where players are developed, encouraged, and given equal opportunities to improve and contribute. Instead, what we witnessed was obvious favoritism and coaching bias. My son consistently showed up, worked hard, listened to instructions, stayed committed, and gave effort every single practice and game, yet he was repeatedly left sitting on the bench while other players were constantly given opportunities regardless of performance. At some point, this stops being about “coaching decisions” and starts looking completely unfair. It is extremely difficult as a parent to continue supporting a program where certain kids are clearly prioritized while others are ignored no matter how hard they work. Basketball is supposed to teach confidence, teamwork, discipline, and growth, but instead this experience has damaged my son’s confidence and made him feel like his effort does not matter. What makes this even worse is the lack of communication and accountability. There was never a proper explanation, never constructive feedback, and never any indication of what my son supposedly needed to improve on in order to earn meaningful playing time. How is a player supposed to grow if he is never given a real chance? Sitting a child on the bench game after game while watching obvious favoritism unfold is unacceptable. Parents invest significant amounts of time, money, travel, and trust into programs like yours. We pay fees, rearrange schedules, support tournaments, and commit to the process because we believe coaches will treat players fairly and professionally. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience with House of Hustle at all. A coach’s responsibility is not just to win games but to develop players and build character. From what we experienced, it felt more like certain players were selected for personal preference while others were treated as if they barely mattered. That is not leadership, and it is certainly not the kind of environment young athletes deserve. I want you to understand how upsetting it is for a child to practice hard every week, come ready to compete, and still barely touch the court while watching less committed players receive endless chances. No parent should have to explain to their child why effort and dedication seem to mean absolutely nothing in a program that claims to develop athletes. This email is not being written out of emotion after one bad game. This has been a repeated pattern over time, and it has become impossible to ignore. The situation reflects poorly on your coaching staff and on House of Hustle as a whole. Because of this experience, we will not be returning to House of Hustle in the future. After what we have seen, I also cannot honestly recommend this program to other families looking for a fair and supportive environment for their kids. Parents deserve to know whether their child will actually be given an opportunity or simply overlooked from the start. I sincerely hope your organization takes a serious look at how players are being treated because no athlete should feel overlooked, embarrassed, or unwanted after giving their full effort. If House of Hustle truly cares about youth development, then fairness, communication, and equal opportunity need to become priorities instead of favoritism and bias. Very disappointed
