Gwinwood is a Christian camp and retreat site on Hicks Lake in Lacey, owned by the Christian Churches of Western Washington since 1947, and it hosts the Northern Lights Region's overnight summer camps for kids and youth. In July it runs Kids Camp for students entering grades 2-3 (three nights), plus Junior Camp for entering grades 4-5 and Chi Rho/CYF camp for entering grade 6 through high school graduation (five nights each), all on a shared faith-formation theme set by the region. Registration and camp operation run through the regional office rather than the retreat center; fees are $180-$200 for Kids Camp and $255-$275 for the older camps, with a $20 early-bird discount. Regional and local-church scholarships covering up to 50% of fees are available but must be approved before registering.

There are ping-pong tables and a volleyball net. The cabins are sweet, with the bathrooms in the same building and lots of bunk beds. Serene atmosphere even though it's right next to the city.
