The Fair Haven Yacht Club runs a junior sailing program on Little Sodus Bay that is open to both club members and the wider community. Sailors ages 8-17 are taught at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels in Optimist and 420 dinghies, with a J24 available for advanced sailors, and every participant must pass a swim test without a life jacket. The 2026 program runs two sessions, June 29 to July 2 and July 6 to 10, and families may register for either week or both. Scholarships are available on request from the Director of Junior Sailing.

★ryan jermynThe marina is run poorly. Last summer I was stuck in a storm and needed to find somewhere to tie up. My boat is an electric sailboat and I was transporting it back to Rochester. I spoke to someone and they told me they had room for my and if I needed any help to let them know. They have a drop box for guests and a guest book. I put my information in the guest book and also in the drop box with enough money for 3 days. I tried calling them 4-5 times over the next 2 weeks to pay for my time on the dock. The mailbox was full and I couldn’t leave a message Finally I emailed them to clarify how much I needed to pay them they emailed back and told me they were going to have my boat towed for being abandoned. Also they didn’t seem to know that I put money in the drop box. After I explained to them that I had been trying to call for the 2 weeks my boat was there there responded with let’s move on and not argue over who’s fault it was.
