The Onondaga Yacht Club runs Youth Sailing & REACH on Onondaga Lake in Liverpool, a short-session program built on US Sailing's REACH curriculum that pairs STEM science with learning to sail. The 2026 session runs July 6-10 from 4-7pm and costs $190; each class covers a science module in which students build things and run experiments on land, then spend at least two hours on the water rigging, launching, sailing and docking as both skipper and crew. It is open to ages 10-17 at a 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio, instructors are US Sailing certified and trained in first aid, CPR and AED, a safety boat stands by, and life vests are required regardless of swimming ability. The fee includes the Little Red Sailing Book, a snack and project materials.

Great deal for the money. Very old established club. It's the 3rd club I've been associated with in CNY. Positives- low membership fees because you don't actually have to "buy into" the club. Very reasonable in season storage rates. Negative- no one design racing and no serious club racing. They do race Portsmouth Yardstick every Sunday. Have sponsored one design regattas in the past

OYC has a fleet of well maintained boats for member use along with all the gear a sailor needs. They host activities for learning, recreational sailing, and racing. The welcoming members share their wealth of sailing knowledge. The clubhouse and docks are located minutes from my house, so my family and I can be there with a quick car ride. The boats are conveniently located near or on the water, so getting underway is much faster than it would be if I trailered my own boat. OYC is a great club!

he This is a great Sailing and social club! Although the club's focus on sailing and all things associated with that, from teaching adults and youth. To weekly Racing events. They offer a sailing school for youth and adults. The club has a variety of sail boats that are available to members for use for FREE. If you are an experienced sailor once you have been checked out on the individual sail boats you would then be able to sign one out and use it at any time the boat you want to use is available. Those who are new to sailing can take the sailing course and follow up with available individual lessons from experienced club sailing members who generously offer there time to help people continue on with there sailing education. Although the Clubs focus is on Sailing they also offer access to other water activity's.There are Kayaks and canoe's available for use. If you have your own sail boat and want to you can for a modest fee park it at the club for easy in and out at the clubs launch. The club also offers much more such as monthly club events throughout the sailing season and more that go into the off sailing seasons. There are weekly Sunday Club dinners. some are pass a dish events and others are full on catered dinners at the club. This is a great place for family's, couples and singles of all ages!

We recently became members and don't own a boat, but they welcome everyone. As a member you have free use of some 17 different sailing boats and kayaks. Membership is very reasonable. Members are great.

There's so much history here. The members were very friendly and willing to help you learn how one could become a member even if you don't own a yacht.....Yet!
