ENOR is an environmental discovery day camp run by the Jefferson County CSU Extension 4-H program, operating since 1974. Each camp day is spent hiking a different local park or open space while exploring Colorado's natural and cultural history through themes that blend science, math, history, art, drama and teamwork. Groups are organized by grade: Owl's Roost (entering 4th), Eagle's Nest (entering 5th), Falcon's Aerie (entering 6th) and Raptor's Retreat (entering 7th-8th). Campers come from across metro Denver including Golden, Wheat Ridge, Arvada, Littleton and Lakewood.

★★★★★Jessica MooreThis is such a unique camp experience! The kids learn about ecology, forestry, climate, navigating the outdoors safely, and how to be good stewards of the environment. They hike and explore Jeffco open spaces and trails everyday and practice team building along the way. The counselors are engaged and fun. This is my kiddo's second year attending and I highly recommend this camp!

ENOR also helps me plan our summer days because we have to revisit all the parks and hikes where my kids become the leaders and I hear stories about campers, and riddles and jokes in addition to what they can remember of dendrochonology, silver mines, glaciers, flora and fauna. Oh and the t-shirts are so cool, don’t pass on getting each one!

What sets it apart from other outdoor camps is a combination of research-based curriculum for education alongside fun and engaging outdoor activities with peers and experienced educators. The cost and hours are also among the most competitive in the region for full-day offerings. It’s put on by Colorado State University Extension, Jefferson County which is a division of both CSU and Jefferson County Parks and Open Space.
★Shannon RippentropIf your child isn’t SUPER outdoorsy or has any neurodivergence at all, I would NOT recommend this camp. The counselors are not equipped to deal with it, and they will shame you every day when you come to pick them up. A little compassion, empathy and encouragement would go a long way, but they are severely lacking in every aspect. I was told multiple times I should keep my daughter home, even though I’d already paid a ton of $ for the camp, and had to work. They don’t care, they don’t want to deal with a “difficult” child. I would never recommend it, and will definitely never return. Incredibly disappointing in so many ways.
