Wild Bear Nature Center has run hands-on, arts-integrated outdoor nature camps in Nederland since 1995, specializing in mountain ecology and creative outdoor exploration. Summer camp runs 8:00am–4:00pm in two-week sessions from early June through mid-August, with campers ages 5–12 choosing Monday/Tuesday, Wednesday/Thursday or all four days, and a Bear Cubs program for ages 3–5 attended with an adult on Wednesdays. The nonprofit offers generous scholarships and is a CCCAP provider, and visits to the nature center itself are free.

This nature center is always a fun stop for us whenever we’re in Nederland. The kids love checking out the animals, exploring the interactive displays, and spending time in the cozy little library. It’s such a thoughtful space, and we always leave having learned something new.

A great space for kids to explore and learn! We weren't there for classes, but they set my son up with some building toys and let him play, and they talked to him about the wildlife in that region. My wife and I also had great conversations with the staff. A very nice place. If you are on a road trip with kids through Colorado, I definitely recommend making a stop there.

The fungi foraging class was very fun! We received an introduction on identifying mushrooms and Zach was helpful and welcomed all of our questions. We foraged on a yak farm and one even walked up to us to see what we were up to.

An educational and fun center great for kids and adults who want to get more in touch with Colorado flora and fauna. They have some cute items for sale and also hold gatherings for things like avalanche awareness. Very interactive. Definitely worth your support and a great place for the community.

This place is a great option for kids and adults to learn and connect back to Nature. Also, cute gift shop with a lot of hand made items.
