Powered by GoogleAthletics Club Corpus Christi has some nice amenities like a tennis court and running track, but it falls short in areas that really matter—especially for the price of around $100/month. Maintenance is a persistent issue. I reported broken equipment multiple times over the course of more than a year, and nothing was ever fixed. That kind of neglect shouldn’t happen at this price point. Cleanliness and hygiene standards are where things really go downhill. I’ve seen people go into the pool, sauna, and hot tub wearing full street clothes. That alone is bad enough, but what makes it worse is that it seems completely normalized. When I brought it up, staff didn’t seem overly concerned and gave a casual response about chlorine handling it, which doesn’t really address the actual issue. The reality is, when people enter shared water spaces in street clothes, they’re bringing in everything from outside—including sweat, dirt, and yes, fecal residue from sitting in those clothes all day. Nobody wants to share a pool or hot tub under those conditions. It’s basic hygiene, and it’s honestly surprising how many people there don’t seem to see a problem with it. Staff are a mixed bag—some are friendly, others come off as dismissive—but the bigger issue is the lack of enforcement and general awareness around cleanliness standards. Overall, it feels overpriced for what you get. With better maintenance and a stronger emphasis on basic hygiene expectations, this place could be much better. As it stands, it’s hard to justify the cost. Edit/Addition to response: Thank you for your response—I do appreciate you taking the time to address the concerns. I also want to clarify that I chose to post this review publicly under an anonymous account for one specific reason: previous attempts to address these issues directly with staff and even other members did not lead to any meaningful change. My goal is simply to see improvement. While I understand your statement about policies being enforced, my experience has been very different. The issue with improper attire in the aquatic areas is not occasional—it is consistent and happens daily. This points to a broader cultural or enforcement problem, not an isolated oversight. It reflects an overall attitude toward cleanliness in shared pool, sauna, and hot tub spaces that needs to be taken more seriously. I do believe this facility has strong potential given its amenities and staff, which is why I felt it was worth speaking up. I hope this feedback leads to more visible and consistent enforcement, as well as a renewed focus on hygiene standards in those areas.
I can’t say enough good things about the Corpus Christi Athletic Club. From the moment you walk in, it just feels right—clean, welcoming, and run by people who truly care. The staff is always professional, friendly, and genuinely helpful, which makes a big difference. What I love most is how much this place offers. There’s truly something here for everyone, no matter your age or fitness level. Whether you’re into machine weights, free weights, cardio like treadmills, ellipticals, or stair steppers, or you prefer group classes, you’ll find your spot. And that’s just the beginning—there are two pools, a hot tub, cold plunge, dry sauna, steam room, tennis courts, pickleball courts, a track, and plenty of space to stretch and move. And here’s something I didn’t expect—the parking lot can look packed, but don’t let that fool you. Once you’re inside, it never feels crowded. Everything is so well spread out because there’s so much to do, people naturally find their own space. It’s more than just a gym—it’s a place where you can take care of yourself, try new things, and actually enjoy the experience.
I've trained all over the world, big gyms, small all kinds. This facility has everything that you could want. All the equipment is new and very well maintained. One of the perks that I love the most that most facilities do not have. Is they have a towel service. Also at each training station, Mr. strategically placed throughout the facility. They have a cleaning station for all the equipment. The staff is always friendly and just feels like home. Ray, John and all the staff are always make you feel welcome. No need to worry about security each locker has its own lock system which is very convenient. For the price you won't find a better more well ran athletic club for hundreds of miles.
I recently moved to the area and tried the Corpus Christi Athletic Club using a free day pass. While the facility itself is impressive, my experience was a mixed bag. Unfortunately, the "vibe" is very unwelcoming. The front desk staff seemed annoyed and stuck to a rigid script rather than being helpful. The atmosphere feels more like a sterile hospital than a high-energy fitness club—no music is boring, and the trainers seem more interested in socializing with each other than engaging with members. Even the staff in the kids' activity area seemed unkind, which is disappointing for a "family" club. The club offers an incredible variety of classes and equipment. Most importantly, the gym is exceptionally well-kept and clean. I really appreciate that they have a dedicated housekeeping crew on-site. It feels like there are too many managers but very little actual management or hospitality skill. There is a sense of entitlement among some members, and the staff doesn't do much to make a newcomer feel at home. I genuinely want to become a member because of the amenities, but I’m debating if the price is worth an environment that feels this cold. I’m hoping to see some leadership changes that focus on hospitality and making the club feel like a community again.
Just joined a week ago and I have worked out once on gym equipment which was awesome, always plenty available. My favorite is the 3 group workouts I’ve done so far. All excellent with 3 different instructors. Beyond happy with the knowledgeable and outgoing instructors. Couldn’t be happier we joined.
