Modern American Cheer is a competitive cheerleading and tumbling gym at 2042 Highway 286 in Corpus Christi. Its summer cheer camp runs one week, July 6-10, from 9 a.m. to noon, for ages 5 to 13, at $195; campers learn cheer basics and team building, spend one day on themed games, and perform for family on the last day. Extended care from noon to 4 p.m. is available Monday through Thursday for an added $160. Spots are limited and registration is online through the parent portal.

BUT, although the size of the new location is so much better, the parking lot is very crowded and dangerous for kids to walk through and it reeks so bad of paint chemicals in the building, that I came home still smelling like chemicals. 😬 That itself won’t stop a passionate athlete to train there if they love it, but if you add that super-long drive to get to that new location (which I personally don’t mind) and that combo might make parents rethink it. And if it’s a new kid, more likely they’ll say “adios” before they even get a chance to love it. If the parking lot was at least more organized (even with cones at least) AND that horrible paint smell (that gave me a headache and I’m an adult) was eliminated, this place would be the most powerful training establishment in South Texas and probably further. PLEASE MAC get those 2 things fixed ASAP.

They are always called by their first name even though they have many athletes. We feel at home when we we enter this gym. Our family highly recommends MAC.
