Word of Life Island is the original Word of Life youth camp, on the 50-acre Clark Island in Schroon Lake in the Adirondacks, purchased by evangelists Jack Wyrtzen and Harry Bollback in 1946. The Island runs week-long Christian camp sessions for high school students; Word of Life's adjacent properties serve other ages, with the Ranch for elementary children, the Wild for middle schoolers and the Pines for family camping. Across its Schroon Lake Bible camps the ministry hosts roughly 2,500 youth each summer under a long-standing code of conduct.

Great away camp for the teens. Not only serve as a great place to meet Jesus; also a very positive environment to meet other teens and young counselors. The support system is very inspiring.

At the camp you can expect 7 or else hours of sleep. councilors have to hold your hand everywhere you go, some will give you attitude some won’t. Heavy racism and violent language here, their system to prevent it is to make children do 10 push-ups per curse word. This doesn’t stop any of the children. You can expect your child to experience bullying and harassment. If your child is not attending with a group they won’t make any friends so don’t expect them too. All electronic devices will be taken from you, besides electric watches. They will search your child’s bag to confirm you have nothing prohibited, the individual that decides if you get to keep your stuff is an overweight white male with an unkept beard. You can expect the same overweight male to search through your daughters clothing and personal affects. The food is subpar and your child has a good shot at getting sick. To summarize, you can expect your child to be bullied exposed to heavy racist and homophobic comments, sickness, rude and obnoxious councilors, poor sleep and activities, rude and violent activity directors and some poor cabin conditions, including black mold, mice, bed bugs, and other various little insects. Do not send your child here, despite other good reviews it is not a good camp.
