The Channel Islands Boating Center in Oxnard runs a week-long Summer Watersports Camp for ages 8 to 15 in which each camper picks one specialized activity for the week: kayaking, sailing, or standup paddleboarding. Days run 9:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday, with check-in from 8:30, and mix hands-on instruction with water- and land-based games, water safety and environmental education. Five weekly sessions run from late June through the end of July at $325 per week. The center is a partnership of Ventura County, the county Harbor Department, NOAA, the California Division of Boating and Waterways and CSU Channel Islands, and scholarships for one week of camp are funded by a DBW grant.

The counselor/coaches are professional and wonderful with the kids. We were sorry to miss Sailing Camp last summer due to COVID. We hope it is offered again next summer.
