Santa Barbara Youth Sailing Foundation runs a summer sailing program from Santa Barbara Harbor, with four two-week sessions and one one-week session between mid-June and mid-August. Classes are half-day: learn-to-sail groups sail 8:45am-noon and racing-level groups 1-4:30pm, in Optimists, CFJ dinghies and ILCA/Laser boats. Beginners start in Garibaldis (ages 5-7, one-week course) or Novice Optimist (ages 7-11), newcomers aged 12-17 begin in intro doublehanded CFJ classes, and experienced sailors join Green Fleet, Champ Fleet Optimist or Laser race teams. The nonprofit foundation publishes a grants and scholarships program.
