Disappointed by Camp TexLake Group Campout Experience We were truly excited to attend a Girl Scout group campout at Camp TexLake, but unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations. While we appreciate the mission behind these events, there were several issues that made the weekend challenging for both the girls and the adults. First and foremost, the camp was noticeably understaffed. This affected everything from activity coordination to basic oversight, leaving volunteers to fill in gaps without clear direction or support. The food was another major disappointment—both in quality and quantity. Meals were sparse, lacked variety, and didn’t reflect the level of planning we were told to expect. It was especially tough with younger girls who rely on regular meals and snacks to keep up their energy. Many of the activities we were promised either didn’t happen or were significantly altered, with little to no communication about the changes. This led to confusion, frustration, and missed opportunities for the girls to fully enjoy their time outdoors. Finally, the clean-up process was poorly communicated. We were told only right before checkout what needed to be done, creating unnecessary stress during what should have been a calm and organized departure. We love what Girl Scouts stands for and always appreciate time in nature with our troops, but this experience at Camp TexLake missed the mark. We hope future events are better staffed, more clearly organized, and deliver on the promises made during registration.

We had an amazing time, all the staff are enthusiastic and extremely kind. A great camp for anyone from Daisys to Ambassadors. All the activities were so much fun, especially the low ropes courses. It was a great time. Many great memories and laughter. Our troop would love to come back one day soon

Made great memories here! We stayed in Suncrest Cabins. We stayed in December. Heaters didn't work very well, but we stayed warm enough☺️

Great experiences every time we or our daughter has been here. Only issue was with a rental for our troop with facilities. The issue was resolved as best as could be done. Unfortunately as with any nonprofit, money is tight and facilities upkeep has to be as best as can be done safely. My daughter has reported having absolutely nothing but fun at al camps she has attended.
