Camp Shriver at UMass Boston
Private
Camp Shriver is a free, inclusive summer sports day camp run by UMass Boston's Center for Social Development and Education, enrolling 100-140 children ages 8-12 (entering grades 3-6) each year, half with and half without intellectual and developmental disabilities, from low-income Boston-area families. Campers play and learn together in adapted sports and recreation designed so children of all abilities participate meaningfully; the program is a national model for inclusive recreation. Camp runs Monday-Friday, 8:30am-2:00pm, for four weeks in July, and includes free breakfast, lunch, snacks and camp gear plus bus transportation from local schools; the only cost is a $25 registration fee for accepted campers.
