Founded in 1955, YMCA Camp Chickami is one of the West Suburban YMCA's summer day camps, set on wooded land that borders conservation land in Wayland. Children entering grades 1-9 attend one-week sessions Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with morning and afternoon extended care and bus service from stops in Newton at extra cost. Days mix archery, arts and crafts, a high and low challenge course, two-week sports leagues, swim lessons, and nature study led by a nature specialist. Youth entering grade 10 can join two-week Leader-In-Training sessions.

★★★★Our EventsGenerally, an all round decent camp, our kids have enjoyed it so far. They have a couple new buildings that are great and they do a great job fixing up the pool in the spring. Some of the buildings are very old and could use a refresh. One building is so close to the creek that it pretty much floods every time it rains and often has standing water in the front (so make sure your kid has plenty of bug spray on them when they go and reapplies during the day).
