American Diabetes Association - National Office (Accredited Camps)

Camp Rainbow is a day camp for children living with diabetes, run by the American Diabetes Association at the Camp Lone Star host site in Tomball, Texas. Campers swim, do arts and crafts and games alongside diabetes education, working on decision-making around eating plans, physical activity, emotional wellbeing and blood glucose management so they can move toward independence. The 2026 session ran July 20-23 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for ages 5-13, with siblings aged 8-13 and a counselor-in-training track for ages 14-17. A team of licensed clinicians provides round-the-clock care; the ADA subsidizes 50% of the full camp price and states that no child is ever turned away from camp due to cost.

I grew up going to Camp Lone Star in La Grange every summer so when I found out they had a Tomball location, I immediately signed our son up for the day camp! He isn’t old enough to do the overnight yet so this was the perfect way to get him introduced to the Lone Star traditions early!! He comes home every day and is ready for rest from all the activities they do at this location so it is definitely FUN filled for the kids!! We are already planning on coming back next summer 😃

Honestly, I never write Google reviews. But there's something really special about Camp Lonestar day camp. The second we drove in, you could feel it. If you're looking for an amazing, Christ-centered, uplifting, tech-free, traditional style summer camp that will help your kids challenge themselves, make friends, try new things, and come home utterly exhausted - this is the place! All of the staff are wonderful, highly trained, and you can tell they love being there. The property itself is stunning, a true piece of heaven right in the city. I was so impressed, it feels really inspired, and we will be back next year for sure! Don't hesitate to send your kiddos.

This is hands down the best Christ centered camp for your children. My kids have loved every single second of their time at Camp Lone Star in Tomball. The staff is incredibly welcoming and caring, the activities are engaging and so much fun for the kids, and most importantly, the strong Christ centered focus keeps the children grounded in faith and growing spiritually every day. The location is absolutely beautiful, the property is always clean and well maintained, and the safety measures are top notch. The daily schedule is perfectly balanced, and it truly feels like the ideal summer camp experience for kids of all ages. My children have made some of their best summer memories here, and we’re already planning to come back next year! If you’re looking for a camp that combines fun, faith, and excellence, Camp Lone Star is the one. 10/10!

Camp Lonestar Tomball is an amazing place. Our daughter started with them last year (she has high-functioning Down Syndrome) and they treated her AMAZINGLY. With her aide by her side to make sure she didn't need anything the young campers couldn't help with, she has been thriving. We can't see her at any other camp. We also sent our extremely violent foster son this year hesitantly, but they were willing to give him a chance. He has had no major issues and the minor frustrations he has had, they have dealt with beautifully and respectfully. I am OVER THE MOON! our adopted son is also behavioral and they take it one step at a time with him. We aren't your traditional family by ANY means and they love on my kids 💯. They have my support for YEARS to come!!!! We are their biggest ADVOCATES! They are AMAZING!

Adventure Woods was such an incredible experience for my son that we ended up enrolling him for 3 weeks in a row because he genuinely did not want it to end. As a parent, that says everything. Every day he came home excited, confident, tired in the best way, and full of stories about hiking, swimming, fishing, rock climbing, ax throwing, and the friendships he was building along the way. It kept him active, engaged, challenged, and away from screens in the best possible way. What meant even more to me was the environment they created. As my son gets older, it honestly becomes harder to find camps and programs that align with our home life, values, and the foundation we’re trying to build for him. Since he attends a Christian school, we’re very intentional about the spaces we place him in, and Adventure Woods truly felt aligned in all the right ways. The staff genuinely care about these kids. You can feel the encouragement, structure, positivity, and intentionality behind everything they do. Beyond just having fun, I watched my son grow in confidence, independence, willingness to try new things, and connection with others. In a world where so much competes for our children’s attention, I’m grateful for places that still prioritize community, character, adventure, and faith-centered encouragement. We are beyond grateful for the memories created there and highly recommend Adventure Woods to any family looking for a meaningful summer experience for their child.
