Camp Fletcher is a summer day camp on a 300-acre woodland preserve in Bessemer, run by the nonprofit BridgeWays of Alabama for young people in grades K through 9. Weekly themes tie together hiking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, marksmanship, arts and crafts and team-building, with campers grouped by age into small units led by trained counselors. The camp was founded in 1926 by Pauline Bray Fletcher, Alabama's first African American registered nurse, as an outdoor retreat for inner-city Black children and families.

Best Field Trip programing in Birmingham area. The staff were absolutely fantastic! Activities were perfectly age-appropriate and hands-on. The kids were engaged the entire time and didn't want to leave actually. Bringing our class back next year for sure.

I enjoy every visit. The kids are great and I love to see progress and opportunities at the camp (hello, dining hall!). Junk in your Trunk is a lot of fun, too.

★★★★★Living doll Jewels

Memories abound! Friendly staff! Educational activities! Swimming pool, hiking, toast marshmallows at night!

Great workers. Parking/lunchroom seating is limited for big crowds/field trips.
