Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Conduct at Butzel Family Recreation Center To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally express my concern and disappointment regarding the unprofessional conduct observed at the Butzel Family Recreation Center. Specifically, I would like to address the behavior of an individual identified as Heavy D., who is reportedly the manager of the facility. During a recent visit, Mr. Heavy D. was observed wearing beachwear while on duty. This attire is highly inappropriate and does not reflect the professionalism expected from someone in a management role. A recreation center is a community space where staff should lead by example, and appropriate attire is an essential part of maintaining a respectful and professional environment. Additionally, I was deeply disturbed by how a particular situation was handled—involving a call to the police despite no crime having been committed. This action demonstrates poor judgment and suggests a troubling lack of understanding of the First Amendment and the rights it guarantees to the public. Such actions are not only unnecessary but also harmful to the relationship between the community and the center's staff. It is unfortunate when individuals are placed in positions of authority without the proper knowledge, training, or attitude required to serve the public effectively. A management role demands professionalism in both appearance and conduct, and that standard is not being met in this instance. I strongly urge the appropriate department to investigate this matter and take the necessary steps to ensure that all staff—particularly those in leadership positions—are properly trained, act respectfully, and uphold the values expected in a public facility.

This is a comment on the front desk staff. Very unprofessional. Is there no such thing as proper work attire anymore? The clothing was a perfect match for their attitudes which belong in the street, not a public facility. This place needs to level up.

Be careful of this place the pool area is not sanitized. There's a high possibility you will get plantar warts (hpv viris) and toe fungus (dermatophyte fungi). Those are hard things to get rid of and most likely you will have it the rest of your life.

Butzel Family Center is a great, family friendly place, inside and out. The staff at Butzel show a great concern and care for the community. I have been going to this center for 3 years now and I have not one complaint. It is always clean and for the most part safe. I LOVE THE PROM ATTIRE GIVE AWAY. It is a great way to give back to the community. I have watched this operation take place. The amount of smiles and joyful tears that the people leave their with is so heartwarming. I always say, "Be the change you want to see." The staff at butzel are doing a great work on the eastside of Detroit City. Thank you Mr. West, Ms. M. Glass, Ms. Emijah, and Mr. Bill
