★Daniella RuizI’m deeply disappointed with our experience at the Boys & Girls Club in kendall. As an aunt of a child with autism, I had hoped this would be a supportive and inclusive environment — but that has not been the case. Instead of making reasonable accommodations or showing understanding, the staff seemed ill-equipped and at times unwilling to engage with neurodiverse children. My nephew was treated differently, excluded from activities, and made to feel like a burden rather than a valued part of the group. Inclusivity isn’t just a word on a brochure — it’s something that should be reflected in staff training, program design, and day-to-day interactions. Unfortunately, the Boys & Girls Club we attended fell far short in this regard. I hope they take steps to educate their team and create a genuinely welcoming space for all children, regardless of ability. Until then, I cannot recommend this organization to other families with special needs
★Deysi BobadillaI’m beyond disappointed in the Boys & Girls Club located in Kendall on 94th Ave. They advertise themselves as an all-inclusive camp, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. My 7-year-old son is on the autism spectrum and has an RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) with him from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM each day. Despite this, the staff immediately began singling him out. On the very first day of camp, they called me asking if I could somehow extend the RBT’s hours as if that’s something parents even have control over. Then they told me I would need to pick my son up at 2:30 because they “can’t have him” there until 5 PM, when I get off work. That is completely unreasonable and shows a total lack of support or understanding. They even wrote him up and threatened to kick him out. All because he's different. Instead of inclusion, my son and our entire family have been made to feel like outsiders. As a mother, I feel deceived and heartbroken. I cannot believe that in 2025, we're still dealing with this level of ignorance and lack of empathy especially towards a 7-year-old child. This experience has been nothing short of traumatic. Please, do not put your kids here especially if your child has any type of special needs. This place is not what they claim to be.
