Kishwaukee Family YMCA in DeKalb (the Barb City Y) runs Kish Summer Camp from June 1 to August 7, Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with separate tracks for K-5th grade and 6th-8th grade. Campers do group activities, creative art, games, sports and exploration, plus a weekly field trip tied to the week's theme; an Elburn site is also offered. The Y additionally runs Camp Power, a free summer program created in 2014 for children and families living in the University Village housing development, combining academics, daily lunch, physical activity, nutrition education, mentoring and life-skills training.
