The Aurora YMCA, part of the YMCA of Metro Denver, runs a summer day camp for children ages 5-12 from early June through mid-August, Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Campers spend days outdoors and in arts and crafts, building community, with about two field trips per week to pools, parks, or museums. Financial assistance is available through the YMCA.

★S MarieWanted to like it but it is so unfathomable to me that they insist on having tv in the childcare. It’s so unnecessary and just screams lazy. Kids don’t need tv. Child care should be a chance for the kids to be social and explore, not sit in front of a tv. The toddlers and babies in there are not supposed to have tv period, as it is not recommended by the AAP. If they’re just ignoring AAP guidelines on screen time, who knows what else they’re ignoring.

★★Chris DyeThe facilities are very nice and the gym equipment is well appointed. We chose to quit this Y after only 1 month solely due to the Adventure Zone childcare. I read previous reviews about children watching tv and was initially hesitant but we were assured that the television was only used for certain activities…that isn’t the case at all. The caregivers simply pulled out bean bag chairs and put Bluey on for the duration of our workout and had kids of all ages watching tv. Once we picked up our children, the caregiver took his own seat in the beanbag chair and continued watching tv with the kids. Again, the facility is nice but I cannot recommend this Y if you care about how your children are watched over. Instead of trying to fight the urge to turn the tv on (which is a historical problem here), how about get rid of it so it’s not an option…

We also would like to thank Alex who patiently teaching our daughter how to swim. All other crews are super nice and helpful. We highly recommend YMCA!
