Apogee Adventures, based in Brunswick, runs overnight teen adventure-travel and community-service trips for students ages 11–18. Programs range from seven days to four weeks and center on backpacking, cycling, service, writing, and photography across New England, the West Coast, Central America, Puerto Rico, and Europe. Although she was initially apprehensive about backcountry camping and not knowing any other participants, the program leaders did an excellent job of supporting her and us through informative Zoom meetings before the trip. The transition during drop-off was seamless; the warm and knowledgeable counselors immediately integrated the kids in the group with effective icebreakers and activities. When I picked her up after the two-week program, she was beaming. She challenged herself by navigating a new environment, backpacking, and kayaking, and she remains in close contact with the great friends she made from across the country. Thank you for providing such a wonderful opportunity for her to connect with nature and build her confidence. We look forward to our daughter (and her younger siblings) participating in Apogee programs for years to come.
