Powered by GoogleWent to this camp as a kid. Having religion forced on me was atrocious, and they included it in everything. They wouldn't let you call home or anything. Really terrible experience. It sounds like they still enforce that. I don't know that it's any better now, but I doubt it.
This place has been great for my son. He's gone for the past 3 years and has plans on becoming a counselor for his first job. The only reason for not getting 5 stars is that this season seems to be a little rocky with new staff members and not much experience handling kids my son is a very mature 11 year old so it don't affect him to much.
My husband went here as a kid and loved it. He didn't have a good home life and said he looked so forward to going to camp every year. Being a Christian based camp, he said he knew this was one place he had structure and felt safe and like people cared. We have sent our girls to Camp Sebago over the past several years. Our youngest who is 9, would live at the camp all summer if we let her lol! She is going for the third year now. There are a couple of weeks she can attend for our unit, and we sign her up for both each year. We have never had any problems nor heard any complaints from her of bullying, bad counselors or staff over the years. Just wonderful memories and new friends made. The negative reviews I read here are either not personal experiences for the reviewers or seem that there may be other underlying issues not included. We have raised our kids to be independent, how to problem solve, and how to talk to people and communicate, as well as standing up for themselves and others. They aren't the type of kids who want to come home from a sleep over because they are home sick or need their mom 24/7. They loved all the activities at camp away from technology. Our youngest loves writing us letters, and we always start sending letters prior to the start of the week so she gets them while she is at camp. The camp gives the kids an allowance for the canteen for snacks and treats for the week. My daughter always says the food is good and she gets plenty to eat. She loves learning about God and Jesus, loves the church time, singing and praying. This is a Christian based camp. Those things are too be expected here. Those saying it seems like a cult or they made you pray before you eat obviously didn't read that it was a Christian based camp. We love it, our kids have loved it! It's a traditional camp, out in the woods on beautiful Sebago Lake. Current price for 2025 is $35 per week.
What better place to get me posting reviews again than this one?! Went here when I was a kiddo, wish my parents had sent me more to be honest. I loved every second and glory be to God my kiddos get to have the same experience.🙌 My oldest had his first experience last summer (2022) and raved about it. This year my two oldest boys both got to attend and are currently there for a 2nd session. They also had their cousin with them this summer and last! So glad this place is still around offering a caring, loving, fun filled week in a Christian friendly environment. Kids need to be kids, especially nowadays and it's great that this place enforces no phones and electronics to focus on God, friendship and simply enjoying life. Will continue sending my kiddos for years to come.♡
I went here when I was a kid and loved it, but my home life wasn’t good so anywhere was better than home. I sent my daughter this summer hoping she would enjoy it as well. It has changed a lot, and not in a good way, unfortunately. My daughter and multiple other children cried every night, begging to call their parents and they weren’t allowed to. What kind of place doesn’t let a kid call their parents when they’re crying? When I went here, kids were allowed to call home and go home if they wanted to. That’s holding someone there against their will, basically a prison. The counselors also took the care package I gave my daughter and said they would give it back when camp was over. They never gave it back to her, and literally stole all of her snacks and drinks. My daughter was miserable the entire time and I didn’t even know. I feel so awful for leaving her there. If you had just let her talk to me, she probably would have felt at ease and had a great time :(
