Andover Summer at Phillips Academy is a five-week academic enrichment program on the Andover campus, established in 1942, for students rising into grades 7 through 12. The Lower School Institute serves students entering seventh and eighth grade with an integrated, theme-based multi-subject curriculum, while Upper School students entering grades 9–12 take intensive academic courses. Most students board on campus; Upper School students may instead enroll as day students, which requires living with a parent or guardian within 20 miles of campus. Students receive end-of-session comments and a graded or mastery-based assessment.

★★★★★Sun LeeI strongly recommend going to this summer school during the summer. Not only do students get to have fun but also learn new topic. When I was here, I first thought of this place to be nothing but intense work, but no! Firstly, the teachers are extremely kind and understanding to everyone. Whenever I needed help, they would help me in every way possible. In addition, they make the classes not only educative, but fun as well. There are many different areas/topics each student can learn. I chose the beach, mountains and river unit, where we learn ecology and writing. Because of that course, I am now able to understand the environment and improve my writing. Moreover, on weekends, there are trips to theme parks and shopping mall. Not to mention, there are also event like late night snack or fire show. As I said before, I strongly recommend going to this summer session, not only is it fun but educative as well. Thanks to Andover Summer at Phillips Academy, I have gained much experience to tackle the difficulties and hardships I have in the future.

As someone who had never attended a boarding school, I was able to meet lots of new people and make life long memories. On my first day I was very nervous and scared. I didn't know anyone and I was half way across the country from my parents. I got settled into my room and met my roommate. Although I was uneasy the first few days, I quickly met new friends. The classes were fun and the teachers were all super nice. The campus is very big, but I was able to navigate the school by the first week. We would have field trips on Wednesdays and visit museums. On the weekends we could also walk to town and buy boba, ice cream, candy, and other snacks. If you are worried about the workload, it consist of daily assignments, depending on the course you enrolled in. For me, I enrolled in "Dig This" and the work load wasn't too bad (I was 12). Students should expect tests throughout the weeks. In general, if you are wondering about attending Andover Phillips Academy, I strongly suggest experiencing Summer at Andover. -Sophia
