Powered by GoogleWe love the swim program at the Y. Our son has been doing it for a couple years. He has become a fabulous swimmer, and loves his classes. The coaches are fantastic, and the work the Y has done to improve the family changing rooms just makes it an even better experience.
As someone who lives in Marblehead, I regularly go to this Y. The treadmills are great, and the private room is definitely a plus. However, the women’s sauna is really disappointing. Why is it only at 130°F? On top of that, the door doesn’t fully close, so cold air keeps coming in. I work hard for my money, and this isn’t the experience I expect. I often end up going to the Peabody location before work instead, the sauna there is set to 190°F and actually functions properly. Please fix this as soon as possible. Marblehead deserves better.
The women’s sauna really needs some attention and upgrades. The door doesn’t fully close, and it never feels properly hot inside. You can actually feel cold air coming in from the locker room, which makes it even worse. It was only around 130°, which was honestly really disappointing. Please fix this as soon as possible. For comparison, the Beverly YMCA has a much better setup, the sauna is bigger and stays consistently hot at around 180°-190, which makes a huge difference.
My son absolutely loves going to camp every day. He gets to play sports like baseball and basketball, make new friends, and stay active instead of being on screens all day. I’ve noticed he comes home happy, more confident, and excited to go back the next day. I’ve had a great experience with the YMCA after-school program. It has been a huge help for me as a parent, and my son really enjoys being there
Being at your location today for the first time this year, I was very disappointed to find that there was no green-cone lane in the pool for public/open swim. The small pool was closed for swimming lessons, and the large pool was taken up with private lanes and more lessons. You have two pools and eight swim lanes, yet not even one was left available for open swim. That’s unreasonable. There should always be at least one lane designated for open swim at all times. The current setup makes no sense, and it feels unfair to members who come expecting regular access. This needs to be addressed and made a rule moving forward.
