Acting For Young People (AFYP) is a nonprofit that has run youth theatre training in Northern Virginia since 1997 and is the theatre program of the Mason Community Arts Academy at George Mason University in Fairfax. Its summer acting camps serve ages 3.5-18 at any experience level, taught by working theatre and film professionals, with every camper appearing in a Friday presentation for family and friends. Weekly full-day acting camps for ages 5-18 run themed sessions from late June through July; specialty programs include Musical Theater Adventures (7-10), Musical Theater Workshop (11-13), Technique and Audition Intensives (14-18), an audition-only Musical Theater Cabaret (13-18), Improv Comedy (10-13), Intro to Technical Theater (11-15), a two-week Devised Theater Ensemble (12-18), and half-day Acting Discoveries for ages 3.5-5.
