The Academy for the Performing Arts (APA) in Apex offers week-long summer camps across dance, preschool arts and theatre. Half-day camps ($217/week) include Preschool for the Arts (ages 2-5, 9 a.m.-noon, dance, music and visual art on weekly themes), Little Stars dance (ages 3-5) and Rising Stars dance (ages 5-10, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ending in a video performance), plus a specialty collegiate-style dance team camp for ages 7-18. Full-day Rising Star Theatre camps (ages 8-13, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., $634) run two weeks and stage shows such as The Lion King KIDS. Optional Breakfast Club and Lunch Bunch extend the day, and the studio has five dance rooms, two preschool rooms and an outdoor playground.
