Powered by GoogleI had recently been to this gym for the very first time, and going in I had high hopes. A friend of mine invited me to go with her for a gym day, as they allow people to attend their first day for free before needing to purchase a membership. I was very excited, and was even considering buying a membership afterwards. However, after my visit, I do not think i’d be coming back ever. From the moment we entered the door, the staff were extremely rude to us. As we tried to sign-in, we were made aware that I needed a physical ID to register as a member to redeem my free day. I politely explained to the employees that I didn’t have any physical ID on me, as I was unaware of their policies since it was my first time there, but I did have digital ID on my phone. However, they were very adamant that they only accepted physical ID, and they could not print out the ID on my phone despite having printers on site. I had to go out of my way to return home and scramble to find ID that would fit what they needed (ID with my name, birthdate, and a photo of myself on it,) as I haven’t gotten my driver’s license yet nor any sort of ID card (which seemed to be a foreign concept to the staff as when I tried to explain this to them, they didn’t offer any solutions and kept reiterating I needed something like a driver’s license.) Despite having to go out of my way to get ID, they continued to be very rude and aggressive to me, saying verbatim “you guys are making this so hard on us!” and “don’t go inviting friends here ever again and don’t sneak people in.” Even as I went to hand over the ID to the staff, they accused me of being underage despite the fact my ID clearly stated I was 18. These comments were uncalled for, and their treatment of us during this initial encounter was very hostile and unwarranted, as me and my friend were trying our best to follow their rules and be respectful. I was even very apologetic, which I regret after the fact as they honestly didn’t deserve my respect after treating us so poorly. I suspect we got this treatment because we are young and were by ourselves, which allowed them to pick on us. Even after this initial conversation, the staff continued to be very unfriendly, such as when we went to order a drink at their bar or when we went to go use the pool. The staff’s tones and attitudes were very passive aggressive, and I felt very on edge during my time at the gym. I constantly felt like we were going to get in trouble, which in hindsight felt ridiculous as we were very mindful of others and made sure to follow the rules of the gym. Overall, despite the amenities being pretty nice, everything else about the gym was very unpleasant. It wasn’t kept clean (there were stains and bad smells in the woman’s locker, the pool was pretty dirty, and people at the gym did not sanitize their machines after use,) the staff were extremely hostile and rude, and the prices were also high (the staff was also very passive aggressive when we called after the fact about their membership prices, which was $45 initiation fee + $75 a month for a single person if you wanted to know.) I would not recommend this gym to anyone, and you’re better off going to someplace else if you want to exercise.
I have been coming to the racquet club for almost 2 years now and I have got to say: I have never felt such a sense of community like you have it at YCRC. I have 2 littles and the nursery is amazing. I never for a second, guess whether my kids are being taken care of. The staff are great!!! I have been a member at a few different gyms over the years and quite literally, nothing compares. The classes are so good. My favorites are Body Pump and Step with Holly and TRX with Ralphie. The sauna/steam room/cold plunge is a new favorite of mine and a definite must. I love how I never have to worry whether I’m gonna get a treadmill or not because there are so many!! Mike - the manager is so nice and keeps the gym running smoothly. You’ve got yourself a lifer here! As much as I would like to gatekeep how great this gym is, I 12/10 would recommend.
The Racquet Club is absolutely fantastic. From the very start, the staff is super friendly and always ready to help, whether you have a quick question or need guidance with equipment, they make you feel welcome and valued as a club member. The facility is spotless, with cleaners actively and regularly wiping down equipment. There are additional cleaning wipe stations provided throughout the gym for member access as well, which I very much appreciate. They offer a large variety of equipment, including free weights, plus tennis and pickleball courts. The workout classes keep things fun, and the pools and sauna are perfect for relaxing after a session. Overall, the Yuba City Racquet Club is definitely the top notch gym/health club in our area with amazing amenities. It truly feels like a full wellness experience rather than just a place to exercise. I highly recommend it!
We love going to the Racquet Club! The gym is well kept and clean! The crew is always picking up after guests (who should have better manners and pick up after themselves) and wiping down equipment. The machines are maintained and up to date. The staff is really friendly and welcoming. I’ve been to other gyms and this is by far one of the best - and for sure the best in the YS area.
I’ve tried a few of the gyms around town but I prefer the YCRC! Been going here for years and it’s the place that I feel most comfortable & safe! I love that there are 2 levels to the gym which helps when it’s peak hours providing more space & equipment. I very, very rarely have to wait for machines due to the wide variety. I recently started taking classes like the body balance yoga & hatha practices which are very relaxing and restoring! The trainers and instructors are helpful & kind. Welcomed with a smile every time as well. They offer a daycare which is super helpful to parents trying to stay fit. Would recommend! I believe they offer a trial week, give them a shot!
