★Jillian GarciaCurrent “member” here. Was forced to sign into a year membership to join an 8 week swim team season. Only here for the convenience of the location to my home. Coaches for the swim team are decent. But the club itself has nothing to offer. They charge $110/mo- more than a typical gym but only have a pool and tennis courts. Their “gym” is a joke- it’s outside in a caged area, couple of kettle bells and some Olympic rings on a weed and spider web infested blacktop. My daughter has a field trip here with her school and we also have to pay for that. And I’m required to volunteer a certain number of hours per year or I get charged. So I pay for membership, pay for field trips, get to volunteer or get charged, and have been bombarded with emails to help raise funds so they can resurface their pools. However, it was impossible to get any type of orientation, information, or even a “welcome” email when I was forced to join. I had to do everything online and learned more about the things I needed to know about the club and the swim team from other parents than I did from the staff. They’ve been in business for 70 years, it seems like a mismanagement of funds to me with as run down as this facility is. I’m told this is a member “owned” club but I’m not reaping any benefits from my forced ownership. They don’t give back to the community and charge full price for the local schools to have a field and trip here. Do better.

Glen Oaks is not any louder than one would logically expect a place where kids and adults are playing sports and enjoying life. We visit the club regularly and have never (other than swim meet days) experienced the club to be excessively noisy or crowded by any means. It would be nice to have a system of keeping non paying visitors out but then again that would probably increase dues so perhaps not worth worrying about?
