A great camp for kids to learn and interact with the outdoors without their electronics. I was a camper in the 1960s, was on staff in the mid-1970s, sent my kids there in the 1990s and early 2000s, and my grandkids in the 2020s. I highly recommend kids staying in Summer overnight camp for 2 weeks.

I just got back from chaperoning my daughter’s 5th grade camp! We had an absolute blast!!! We stayed in the Crockett cabin, and it was cute and clean for being as old as it is. The new updated bathrooms were a HUGE bonus (individual bathrooms with showers? Not communal showers?! Yes, please!). All the staff there were wonderful and helpful, especially Payton (not sure if that’s how she spells it). She was absolutely WONDERFUL and patient with the kids and even us adults who wanted to try archery too. Plus, she was committed to the bit when she spread rotten banana all over her face during a night one of the evening programs. It even had me laughing! Julia and the gentleman (my adhd brain can’t remember his name, but he also taught the pioneer class) were super patient and kind to all the kids (and adults alike) who needed their worms put on their hooks (me included). Oh! And a big thanks to Kira (I think that’s how they spelled it) for being so enthusiastic and encouraging during the Tower climb! I didn’t get very far, but it was my first time, and they made me feel like I really achieved something. Which was nice. Oh and the food! While not like…five star, it really wasn’t that bad! I’m admittedly a picky eater even as an adult, but I never went hungry. The fruit and salad bar kept me happy even if I didn’t want to eat the entree (which I think only happened once). But my kid? She ate every single meal. And if she didn’t like what was given (but I’m proud because she tried everything), she’d go to the salad bar and load up on tomatoes. The rules they had for each cabin were reasonable, and I loved how they tried to push the zero waste (something I will be continuing to push in our household). While we never achieved zero waste while we were there, I think the lowest we got was like 4lbs (down from like, 14lbs the first night, even though that dining room was FULL that first night). But I digress… It truly was a lovely time, and I had a great time! I’m hoping my daughter’s school continues to go here because I have a younger son, who I would LOVE to send for this!!! Thank you to everyone for being such wonderful hosts!!!

Just got back from 5th grade camp, and I would say it is A-MAZING. The reviews about bed bugs are all false, I stayed there from May 1st to May 6th and I had a great time. No bed bugs, at least not in my cabin (Bozeman) and I loved everything there. Eli was a great counselor and funny, and I'd recommend it to anyone that wants to go to a YMCA camp in Michigan. It's wonderful

I cannot explain how much this camp traumatized me. I am now an adult, and it’s been many many years since my school visited and I am still haunted by what I saw, heard and experienced here. Looking back, imagining my petrified self, I realize that as an adult I can speak up about what I went through here. First, there were raccoons inside and out of our cabin. It was a genuine battle to get water to shower. The food is nasty but they try to force you to eat it with a “zero waste” mentality. When I came here, I experienced what they called the “underground railroad” and it was so awful that I to this day have nightmares about it. And it has been YEARS since I was there as a child. There were huge, huge, horses running up behind you and grown adults screaming in your face. There were children shoved in tiny spaces and gun shots sounds that we had to hear, almost insinuating that our teachers were being shot a few feet away from us. It was in the middle of the night, pitch black, in the woods. And the adults did not even remotely hold back. I am talking screaming in your face like their life was on the line. I don’t understand how a program like that can even be allowed.. this camp is awful. shut it down. even if they say they don’t do the underground railroad anymore, they still thought that was okay. and who knows what they do now. shut it down.

It’s camp storer. No complaints. Still the amazing camp it was 20 years ago. Nothing has changed. Clean facilities. Friendly staff. Scholarships available for summer camp. Great experience. Will return very soon.
