While I have not had a child attend the YMCA punk bug outdoor center, some of the reviews here are disturbing. In general, it sounds like the staff needs more training with how to handle young children in various situations, including bullying.

This camp needs to be either closed or it needs to be careful when choosing who works there. My nephew was being bullied constantly & his counselors from his village lied, saying he never said anything. Spoke with the counselors that was present & they made it seem like they would do their job and make change. Then they changed up & made it seem like it was never said from my nephew. They claim they never seen a fight or argument happen, but they were & was there to witness instead of put a stop to it. My nephew is smart, has never been in trouble & helps his peers around him with whatever. Do not send your kid there. You tell them to watch out and change the behavior, but they won’t listen. Most of the counselors claim they watch your kids, but they don’t. They barely watch them at the pool. They don’t pay attention when an altercation is happening. They also don’t know how to take accountability. Choose wisely. 🤷🏽‍♀️

This camp is the worst YMCA Camp you could ever go to in Canton. Do NOT let your children go there. The counselors swear at you and they are rude and do not really let you go anywhere during the whole day. One of the swimming teachers started screaming at me because I told her I didn't know how to swim and I asked for some help to learn how to swim and she told me she didn't care if I knew how to swim or not. The pool is very dirty, there were frogs and dirt in the water and they told us it didn't matter and that we should get in. Snakes were found in the girls bathroom but the counselors didn't do anything about it. There was also a bee nest in the bathroom. Girls were not given privacy to change comfortably.

Just be careful with your children and talk to them daily. Some staff are young and don’t talk to the children kindly at all. Thankfully my child is old enough to speak up. Management sweep everything under the rug and invalidate you as well. Very disappointing and unprofessional behavior at this camp.
