Great place to work out with nice equipment and people who are so very helpful in learning how to best use the equipment.
Love all the staff ! Great place to work out and meet friends!
For the first time in my life, I look forward to going to the gym! The Old Forest YMCA is a hidden gem, truly! I wish I would’ve joined 3 years ago when we moved to Lynchburg. All of the staff are so friendly and genuinely seem to care (special shoutout to OP, Caleb, Chris, and the entire Child Watch staff)! Facility is always clean, and staff is always happy to answer any questions you may have. My overall well-being has improved significantly since I joined 7 months ago. I’m so happy, thank you Old Forest YMCA!
I’ve been a member of the YMCA on Old Forest Road in Lynchburg for a while now, and I can confidently say it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my health and overall well-being. From the very beginning, the staff has been incredibly welcoming and supportive. They greet you with a smile every time you walk in, and they genuinely seem to care about your progress and experience. Whether you’re a seasoned gym-goer or just starting out, this YMCA has something to offer for everyone. The atmosphere is positive, family-friendly, and motivating—which makes it easy to stay committed to your fitness goals. The facility itself is always clean and well-maintained. The weightlifting area has all the equipment I need for strength training, and there’s plenty of cardio equipment, so I’ve never had to wait long, even during peak hours. The locker rooms are spacious and kept tidy, and there’s always hot water in the showers, which I appreciate after a long workout. What really sets this YMCA apart, though, are the group classes and amenities. I’ve taken everything from HIIT and yoga to spin and water aerobics—and the instructors are top-notch. They’re energetic, knowledgeable, and really know how to encourage everyone at any fitness level. The indoor pool is also a huge bonus, especially in the winter months. More than just a gym, the YMCA on Old Forest Road feels like a community. I’ve made some great friendships here and connected with people who are also trying to better themselves. There’s a strong sense of belonging, and I’ve seen firsthand how the Y supports families, kids, and seniors with programs that go beyond just fitness. Whether you’re looking to get in shape, maintain a healthy lifestyle, or just find a positive and uplifting place to spend your time, I can’t recommend this location enough. It’s more than just a place to work out—it’s a place to grow.
